Kea - the world's only mountain parrot lives in alpine environment of the Southern Alps of New Zealand. They are the most intelligent parrot in the world, said to have cognitive abilities around that of a 4 year old child. Stores were shared of how clever and mischievous they can be. We were admonished to keep all our belongings secure. They are an endangered species and, oh yeah...their scientific name is "Nestor notabilis". For real. The shot is of low quality as it was taken in low light.
End of line at Milford Sound. Sandfly Point is well-named. You can see the sandflies all over my shirt. They were with us on various stretches of the hike. They are vicious little things and I have the bites to prove it. BTW, for the record, the Milford is really more like 33.8 miles, not including any side hikes along the way. Photo by JML
